Vision

My ideas spring from the amazement that I experience in my immediate environment to my garden and house. I am excited by the beauty of decay, the power of growth and the resulting associations. For instance, imagine an apple eaten empty by wasps and then further reduced by other insects. Also a tale in itself is the way in which plants are able to defend themselves. It is marvellous to see how soft and hard suit each other, such as a woodworm: soft and round body, but tremendous jaws. You can also see movements and postures of birds reflected in our world of theater and dance.

Work methodology

My years of work experience with metal led me to chose to work with bronze, and to make shapes that look like plants as well as animals, thus artificial forms. I try to build into these new forms both strength of growth and decay. My first sculptures came into being by playing around with solidified drops of bronze. After prolongued experimentation with a variety of solder, bronze alloys and weld techniques and with different ways of cooling the liquid metal, I managed to obtain a material with solidifying patterns and desirable structure. By way of chopping, welding, bending and polishing by sculptures grow. As a finishing touch I can colour the sculptures chemically, with grinding and polishing I can add contrast.
